eBay is dangerous for my bank balance…

19.4.12 By Annie N

Now, people who know me will know I go through phases. It happens fairly frequently. Sometimes it will be The Sims 2 (yes I know, I’m supposed to be an adult), sometimes it will be jewellery making. I always love baking, but in the last few days I’ve been addicted to eBay…

£1.90
£2.19
£0.99

The list goes on and I’m like “Oh well it’s only £0.99” But it’s adding up!

It’s baking stuff of course, plunge cutters for fondant, fondant smoothers, cake boxes, ribbon…. Someone needs to stop me! Baking is going to bankrupt me! Unless I start selling cakes or something which my was my other half’s idea. However, I’m worried that if it became a job and I had to do it then I may not enjoy it so much 🙁 At the moment I do it for pleasure as I love making pretty, yummy things. People rave about my baking and my dad has got half their street eating my carrot cake, but I just don’t know if I could sell them.

I have also found a simply amazing product that I HAVE to purchase. A cupcake plunger!! I know it sounds dodgy (I’m grown up really) but how amazing to take the middle out of your cupcake and then put a filling in?!?

And my friend found out how to bake hearts into cupcakes so have to try that as well!

I’ve given in and ordered a kMix Stand Mixer, which should hopefully arrive next week and then I’m fairly sure there will be cakes coming out of my ears, just because I want to play with my new toy 🙂 It’s like I’m still mentally about 8. Am I the only one?

I do have one cake “order” as such. I’m making my Nan’s birthday cake for next week and it’s going to have ducks on it… However, finding a duck cutter has been harder than anticipated. I have eventually found one though so fingers crossed it looks good! I will be blogging the cake when I’ve made it 🙂 (Unless it’s a disaster and too embarrassing to post!)

Back to eBay, I’ve found rolling pins which emboss fondant icing, silicone sheets which do the same, modelling tools (oh yes I ordered them too) and these small silicone moulds where you can make baby feet, flowers, purses you name it! I think I’m going to start playing the lottery in the hope I win so then I can afford this eBay habit of mine…
