Apple Crisps

2.9.14 By Annie N 26 Comments

These apple crisps are literally the simplest, most tasty things to make ever! Fresh, crunchy apples are sliced thinly and baked until crisp and that’s it! You can sprinkle cinnamon, sugar or any number of things on these super versatile crisps. The perfect snack to have to hand to curb your sweet cravings!

Apple Crisps | Annie's Noms

I thoughtย weย I needed a break from the cakes and cookies today.

I have a graduation dress to fit into on Thursday people!

I am stressing so much. I’m absolutely terrified that I won’t fit into my dress even though I haven’t done anything differently recently. Or that if I fit in my dress, I’ll have a food baby belly because let’s be honest I’m a carb lover and I just can’t give them up ๐Ÿ™

Is this how I will feel when I get married, but x1000 ?!

I’ve been soooooooo much more relaxed recently, allowing myself to have treats and be healthy rather than just skinny, but I am feeling the pressure this week. Desperately trying not to get into a negative mindset and start a spiral down to being really ill again because I have so many things going on, I cannot afford to get ill.

So, this week I’m trying to focus on work in the hope I don’t have the time to worry!

Anyways, in the hope that I will look good, I made Apple Crisps. I mean, these are laughably simple to make and so, so unbelievably good!

They’re also versatile. You could sprinkle a touch of cinnamon on them, or just some sugar – or you could drizzle caramel all over them…. maybe next time I make them ๐Ÿ™‚

Honestly the only ingredient today is fresh, crunchy apples.

I used Granny Smith’s as I absolutely love the slightly tart flavour, but you could use any apples you like, you could even mix it up and use a variety.

Slow, baked fruit is a definite winner in my eyes and it’s keeping my cravings for chocolate and cakes at bay.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing which will curb my cravings for thick slices of fresh white bread.

I’ll just be the girl locked in the house munching on apple crisps until Thursday.

I can’t even believe I’d never tried apple crisps until yesterday. I’m now a convert and am guessing that my apple consumption will increase tenfold during Autumn!

They are light, fruity and slightly crunchy – basically they feel like they should be naughty, but they’re not! ๐Ÿ˜€

If you haven’t already tried apple crisps, I’d highly recommend doing it like now!

The perfect way to use up loads of apples and create a go-to healthy snack.

Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. Do any of you have a go to healthy snack/meal for when you need to look good at an event?ย

I would LOVE to hear what they are ๐Ÿ˜€

P.P.S – Promise I’ll be back to naughty treats on Thursday ๐Ÿ˜‰

Apple Crisps

These apple crisps are literally the simplest, most tasty things to make ever! Fresh, crunchy apples are sliced thinly and baked until crisp and that's it! You can sprinkle cinnamon, sugar or any number of things on these super versatile crisps. The perfect snack to have to hand to curb your sweet cravings!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 medium sized apples (I used Granny Smith, but any would work)
  • Cinnamon, sugar, caramel etc. for topping, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 160C/325F and line 2 baking trays.
  2. Slice the apples into 1-2cm slices, removing seeds.
  3. Place one layer of apple slices on each tray (if you pile them all up they won't go crisp).
  4. Sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon if desired.
  5. Place in the oven for 45 mins-1 hour, flipping the slices half way through, until lightly golden and dried out.
  6. Leave to cool on the trays. If you're using caramel, drizzle on cooled crisps.
  7. Apple crisps will keep in an airtight container, at room temperature, for 3 days.

Can you core the apples? As pictured do you eat the entire slice or is the middle “corey”/
    Thanks…can’t wait to try.

Hi Annabelle, (I’m an Annabelle too – don’t see many spelled the same way!)

You can core the apples if you want, I just sliced the apples and then removed the seeds, once baked they don’t taste “corey” at all!
