Ever wanted birthday cake in drink form? Well, now you can! This creamy milkshake tastes just like vanilla birthday cake and has sprinkles!
Hi guys! Ever fancied drinking birthday cake?
I have funnily enough, so I decided to create this Birthday Cake Milkshake for you guys! It’s thick, creamy and filled with sprinkles and cake mix.
Yes, you heard that right, I used cake mix. For the first time ever in my blog’s history!
Although… I did use homemade cake mix. I promised never to use cake mix in baking on my blog as I focus on from scratch recipes, but I thought I’d be forgiven for using it in this instance because this milkshake is so darn tasty and it totally needs that cake mix. (BTW, I’m not saying cake mix is bad, I’m just saying my blog focuses on from scratch recipes :)).
I tried without and doing it a whole other way and it just did not taste right! Now though? It tastes just like cake, only in milkshake form. It is out of this world delicious!
Years ago, I used to go to Shake Away. It’s a shop where you can get basically anything you could imagine made into a milkshake; skittles, oreos, minstrels, maltesers, creme eggs… you name it, they’ve probably got it. They’re obviously not the healthiest, but sometimes you just need to indulge and it was worth every calorie.
I always, always got a Muffin Milkshake… I’m not sure why as I loved the look of many other milkshakes, but I always craved that chocolatey milkshake with chunks of muffin in.
So, my love affair for cake based milkshakes started long ago and I really don’t know why it took me so long to make my own cake milkshake. I’ve made a Biscoff Brownie Milkshake before, but never one with cake.
Anyway, if you or someone you love has a birthday coming up, then this will be the perfect way to celebrate! AND they’re ready in 5 minutes! You just need vanilla ice cream, cake mix, milk, vanilla extract and sprinkles. Pour it into a glass and sip away.
For those people who don’t want to bother with a whole cake… my fiancé is one of them because he “doesn’t really like cake” (all the eye rolls) this milkshake is the perfect compromise. I mean, hey, if people don’t want birthday cake, why can’t you still enjoy it? And in drink form? I would… and probably will come Mr AN’s birthday later in the year!

Yum! I love this! Milkshakes are my thing, so I definitely need to make one of these…plus my birthday is coming up, so yay!
I love a good milkshake too, hope you get to try this!
I would be quite happy with this instead of cake haha, it looks so delicious!
Haha so would my fiancé! Me… I think I’ll just have both since it’s just once a year! 😉
Delicious!! My daughter would love this. Funfetti looks so adorable.
Thank you! 🙂
I saw this on your facebook page and had to come to check it out. Looks and sounds amazing!
Thanks so much! 😀
Ohhh yum! I love birthday cake stuff 🙂 I’ve been eating Birthday Cake Halo Top lately but this milkshake sounds AWESOME!
Me too; have you tried those Goldfish crackers in vanilla cupcake? They are AMAZING!
I love anything birthday cake. And my favorite thing about milkshakes is that they’re easier to take on the go, so I’d definitely be doing some birthday traveling with one of these in hand!
This is seriously so pretty and festive- my daughter would love it!
Thank you! 🙂
Yumm! These look perfect for a party! the sprinkles are the perfect touch.
I would definitely go to a birthday milkshake party! 🙂
Omg, this looks amazing! Not so healthy but…oh well! I’m obsessed with dessert. Will definitely be trying this. Glad to find your lovely blog!
Well, it’s only once a year you celebrate your birthday so I felt like going all out! Definitely worth the calories 😉
Liquid cake….O.M.G. It’s the like the best invention ever! Great post.
Yep lol. When my fiancé got home I literally went “Oh my gosh, this is cake in liquid form, try it, try it!!” 😀
This looks absolutely delicious! I need to have more milkshakes in my life 🙂

The only things missing is sliced bananas and whipped cream. You had me at birthday cake lol
Ooooh I’m definitely going to try with bananas! Maybe a tiny bit of cream for me as I’m not a huge fan unless it’s sweetened or has vanilla in!
Your Birthday Cake Milkshake looks awesome, I want one for my birthday! Thanks so much for sharing your post with us at Full Plate Thursday. Have a great weekend and come back to see us real soon!

Thanks so much for hosting! Hope you have a great weekend too! 🙂
I hate when I have to use a commercial product for a recipe and there is no good alternative. Sometimes when I make soup, I need to toss in a not so healthy bouillon cube. I’ll forgive you if you will forgive me. Your milkshake looks divine.
Thank you 🙂 I’m the same, I just love cooking completely from scratch, but I felt like maybe just one time (since you only have one birthday a year!) I could use cake mix!
Thank you! I think I must be a big kid at heart because I just love anything brightly coloured and funfetti filled!
Congratulations!
Your recipe is featured on Full Plate Thursday this week. Thanks so much for sharing with us and enjoy your new Red Plate!
