Aging is a normal and natural process, and everyone continues to age as time goes by. Your skin is one of the most significant aging indicators, and one of the easiest ways to identify change is through the appearance of wrinkles. You can develop wrinkles as early as in your 20s, but it’s usually more prominent in many older people. Apart from age, wrinkles might also be caused by several other factors such as genes, smoking, facial expressions, and even how you sleep. So, what can you do to delay wrinkles on your face? Well, you can make particular lifestyle and cosmetic changes. Here are a few suggestions.

Moisturize your face

Just like the name indicates, moisturizers are designed to keep your skin hydrated and well-nourished. As time goes by, you will find that your skin is more susceptible to drying up, making it easier for wrinkles to form. For best results, ensure that the kind of moisturizer you use contains essential ingredients such as vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. These two components perform excellently at combating wrinkles and preventing them from spreading. You can consult with your dermatologists to help you find the best kind of moisturizer for your skin type.

Retinoids are your friends

You can get retinoids from vitamin A. They help in collagen production, which helps keep your skin soft and supple. It also helps in skin regeneration. There are five kinds of retinoids, most of which come in the form of creams and gels that you can purchase in pharmacies. Sometimes, however, you might need to have it prescribed by a doctor. When you start using retinoids, it would be best to try out a small sample to test your skin’s reaction. If you do not experience any responses, you are good to use it. However, use it sparingly to prevent your skin from peeling.

Cosmetic procedure

Cosmetic procedures like Botox, can help prevent skin wrinkles from developing. Botox works by blocking your nerves’ signals to muscles, thus causing your wrinkles to soften up and relax. Your botox / botox specialist may use it on common wrinkle areas such as your forehead, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

The procedure typically does not last long; neither does it require any anaesthesia. You might feel slight discomfort throughout the process and may notice changes within the first two weeks, which can last for up to three to six months.

Keep your face relaxed

Everyone develops habitual facial expressions like frowning and squinting. These can quickly speed up the development of facial wrinkles. Ensure that you get your eyes checked out if you find yourself squinting more often than usual. It might be a sign that you have issues with your vision. If you are regularly frowning, it could indicate stress. Why not take up some stress management exercises to help you relax? Try your hands at meditation, yoga, and some deep breathing exercises.

Wrinkles are inevitable as long as you are aging, but you can prevent it from showing early or stop new ones from developing with the right steps. Try your hands out on any of these options to see results.
