5 Ideas for a Special Anniversary

4.2.22 By Annie N

*This is a collaborative post.

An anniversary is a special occasion, and it’s important to do something to commemorate it. However, trying to decide what to do is difficult because everyone is different, and there are so many ideas out there to choose from. It can feel somewhat overwhelming. We’ve come up with some great ideas for you to choose from that will make your significant other feel loved and special; you can’t ask for more than that.

Breakfast In Bed

If you’re planning a day of love and laughs for your anniversary, starting early is the best way to go about it. You can prepare a romantic breakfast in advance and include a glass of champagne to make things really special. Breakfast can be as simple as toast and butter, or you can make it fancier with banana muffins or a fruit salad. Surprise your partner by bringing them their breakfast in bed. If you’re early enough, you can also watch the sunrise (maybe you’ll even make a memorable trip somewhere to see it, then come back to breakfast in bed afterward).

Sunset

If you like the idea of watching the sunrise, but it’s a little too early for you, try the sunset instead. Take a picnic with all your favourite food and drink and find somewhere that’s not crowded to watch the sun go down as you enjoy your meal. A beach is a great place to go or a hilltop. If it’s too cold to go outside, a picnic indoors (with a view of the sunset if possible) is another excellent romantic idea. Spread a blanket on the floor of your living room or bedroom, and just take the time to talk to one another without any distractions. It’s incredible how much closer you’ll feel to one another by doing this.

Massage

There’s nothing as romantic as a massage from the one you love. You don’t have to be an expert, but it will pay off to do some research first – you don’t want to hurt your loved one by getting carried away. A wedding anniversary is the perfect excuse to light some scented candles, set out some gorgeous massage oils and play some soothing music. Turn down the lights and your homemade massage parlour is good to go.

Gifts

Although gifts aren’t always necessary, especially if you are doing something romantic and taking them out somewhere, it’s always nice to give someone you care for something lovely, just to see their faces light up. Ideas include diamond jewellery (you can even pick the loose diamonds yourself), tickets to a show, a beautiful watch, or vouchers for a spa day. It really depends on what your partner enjoys and what they are into, but you should know them well enough by now to work it all out. Just remember, you’re buying a gift for them, not for you!

Have A Second Wedding

We don’t mean go to the expense of actually having a second wedding day (unless you really want to do that, in which case renewing your wedding vows can be a wonderful thing to do). Instead, you could get the wedding video out, look through all the photos, talk about your favourite parts of the day, and perhaps try to recreate your wedding meal.
